The house my folks bought in 1981 had last been decorated in 1976 when the nation marked its birthday by plastering patriots, eagles, and Liberty Bells on everything. I thought it was pretty cool actually, I mean... what's wrong with U-S-A and eagles?! Nothing.
I came across this logo at my local hardware store. I'm always a fan of simple, flat, 70s style logos. They stand the test of time. Maybe in 2076 our homes will be decorated in these modern takes on our colonial roots? (In holographic form of course.)
I looked up the issue of the New York Times from my birthday. Turns out, it was a slow news day. But I did see this ad and was extremely impressed. Nice people getting smart with media.
There are people who make a living in color alone. I'm not one of them. A great trick I picked up was snatching up a great palette from the tiny details provided by Mother Nature. Sounds groovy right? It is.
This one pulled in 5 minutes from a tree on my block. I threw together a quick type example to show how it might live beyond the tree.
